- Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and knowledge of referral pathways when reviewing and interpreting permissions to ensure copyright-related issues are appropriately handled.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including high-level written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of research funder mandates and open-access publishing.
- Demonstrated experience working with copyright and licensing issues in academic publishing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Creative Commons licenses and appropriate attribution of licensed material.
- Knowledge of FAIR principles and Data Protection requirements and how they relate to the management of research data.

**Qualifications and Required Skills**:

- Honours in LIS (Library and Information Science), or BA Law / LLB Degree with 5 years’ experience in an academic or research library as an information librarian.
- Providing copyright advice and support to library staff, and the academic community
- Compile reports and submit them to the Manager: RV & O and the Executive.
- Monitors DALRO copyright clearance service and copyright compliance.
- Keeps a record of annual DALRO copyright expenditure.
- Delivering training and awareness sessions to the faculties and schools.
- Applies for copyright clearance to DALRO or publishers directly, where necessary.
- Provide guidance to the Library, Museums, and Press on copyright and intellectual property issues and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with the terms of Library resource suppliers’ Licence Agreements by identifying clauses that require the University to make adjustments for its users.
