The Operational Clinical Nurse Specialist focuses on the delivery of quality competent nursing care. The incumbent acts as a clinical resource and leader in the theatre environment, performing functions at an advanced level competently and consistently.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Operational management

- Consultation as a source of expert knowledge
- Clinical teaching of staff and learners
- Research
- Leadership

**Experience & Qualifications required**:

- Registered as a registered /professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council or equivalent NQF level 7 nursing qualification
- A post basic nursing qualification in Operating room nursing, together with contemporary skills and knowledge of that specialty.
- Relevant experience in Cath Lab, Theatre, Cardiac or ICU would be advantageous.
- Thorough knowledge of theatre nursing theory and practice
- Extensive knowledge of modern nursing care principles and practices in the theatre.
- Sound and contemporary knowledge of the operating theatre, together with an advanced understanding of professional nursing, health care delivery and programme planning
