**Job Purpose**:
The incumbent of this role will monitor the Airline security operations to ensure compliance to the Airline Operators Security Programme (AOSP) and that implemented policies, procedures and counter measures to prevent acts of unlawful interference and the introduction of weapons and potentially dangerous articles are complied with.
**Principal Accountabilities**:
- Demonstrates an understanding of the Security’s strategy and plan relevant to own work outputs
- Implements department strategy within own area of responsibility
- Provides recommendations to support the implementation of the departmental strategy and plan
- Contributes to the budget management and containment of costs
- Utilises resources in area of responsibility/ own area of work in a time and cost-effective manner
- Utilises technology to enhance internal and external customer expectations
- Executes work outputs according to customer requirements
- Adheres to Governance and Risk Management policies, processes and systems
- Delivers on regular, irregular and timeous reporting of information to key stakeholders
- Participates in continuous optimisation programmes, projects and initiatives Monitor SA Airways security operations to ensure that implemented counter measures to prevent the introduction of weapons and potentially dangerous articles are complied with
- Conduct checks of SAA operations for compliance
- Manage/handle other security related processes, i.e. firearms handling, dip-locker locks & keys, & carriage of deportees on SAA to/from SA
- Control, order and distribute dip-lock keys and locks
- Liaise with internal and external sources/departments to facilitate the development of Aviation Security
- Carry out inspections of AVSEC 3rd party security services
- Conduct checks related to security operations at aircraft, passengers, baggage, cargo and catering
- Arrange for acceptance and carriage of deportees
- Assist with investigations pertaining to acts of unlawful interference or as directed
- Ensure reporting of non-compliance issues and follow-up on corrective measures
- Compile weekly and monthly management reports
- Conduct Aviation Security related correspondence and administrative functions
- Maintain and update AVSEC procedural documents
**Qualifications & Experience**:
- Grade 12(Matric) or equivalent at NQF level 4 and/or at least 5x years running experience in AVSEC operations
- A recognised AVSEC Qualification (IATA or ICAO), exceeding at least AVSEC Level 3 under SACAA regulations
- Understanding and experience in 3dr party contract security management within AVSEC operations
- Demonstrable knowledge of the roles of Law Enforcement, Immigration, SARS, Airport Authority and other agencies in AVSEC
- Loss Control and Aircraft Security principles
