**Occupational Hygienist - Mining - Namibia**

An opportunity exists for a qualified Occupational Hygienist with one of our clients in the mining industry. As an Occupational Hygienist in the mining sector, you will play a crucial role in identifying, assessing, and controlling workplace health hazards to ensure the well-being of employees. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and provide expert advice on occupational hygiene matters.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Responsible to plan, design and implement mine environmental control and hygiene systems to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Lead and co-ordinate all occupational hygiene, health, and emergency preparedness programmes.
- Ensure legal compliance: the compilation, implementation, and maintenance of OH COPs, risk assessments, and related documents, Implementation, and management of effective OH strategies and systems based on risk assessment outcomes.
- Manage OH measurement and monitoring strategies and the reporting thereof.
- Report on the effectiveness of Emergency preparedness programmes.
- Coordinate medical surveillance system.

**Experience and Qualifications**:

- Relevant tertiary qualification (or equivalent) in e.g. Health Sciences, Environmental Health, Biology, Physiology, etc. majoring in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Minimum of 5 to 8 years relevant experience in a mining/construction/projects environment.
- Certificate in Basic Principles in Occupational Hygiene - W201 - with BOHS.
- Registered with the Health Professions Council of Namibia - Allied Health as an Environmental Health Practitioner.
- Certification/registration with the South African Institute for Occupational Hygiene (SAIOH) will be an added advantage.
- Solid knowledge of applicable Namibian legislation.
- Driver’s licence.
