**_ Position Purpose:_**
- Responsible for the design, development, management and support of the Network and Telecommunication services at

TPL nationally, in line with business and ICT strategies.
- To manage the facilitation and analysis of business requirements and opportunities to determine their feasibility and overall

benefit to the business.
- To be responsible for the overall planning, co-ordination, execution, control and financial management of network

infrastructure projects and the Operating Division technical lead for Transnet’s transversal projects representing TPL
requirements and technical expertise.
- Responsible for the development and management of the Contracts and service level agreements as delivered by

outsource partners including financial management, relationship management, performance management and service
- delivery management.
- Defining and implementing innovation and improvement opportunities for more effective use of network services, cost

saving opportunities and customer satisfaction.

**_ Position outputs:_**
- Responsible for developing and managing the network and telecommunication services at Transnet Pipelines on a national

level. Network and telecommunication will refer to the following key IT areas: Wide area network, Local area network, Voice
- services, firewalls, reverse proxy, Wifi/Wimax, Internet services, Mobility APN services, Data centre networks and any other

network related elements.
- Ensure performance and capacity planning of services and proactively address requirements so eliminate bottlenecks.
- Manage interfaces and integration touch points to the network services
- Ensure quality assurance of all products and services deployed, and perform testing criteria and execution.
- Manage the disaster recovery testing of critical services
- Liaise with the various departments at TPL to create and validate a service catalogue to ensure that services are delivery

according to requirements and criteria’s requested.
- Manage any disputes with service providers effectively by ensuring proper escalations within the Service provider’s ranks

and Transnet ranks
- Analyse the necessary Daily, Weekly, and Monthly service level reports indicating performance of the 3rd party for

accuracy, compliance to contract as well as recommending areas for improvement.
- Ensure and/or oversee the physical workmanship of the service provider are aligned to standards and that there are no

risks for TPL.
- Analyse, review, measure and manage service levels and contract criteria’s and action accordingly.
- Assist the Infrastructure manager with the implementation of IT Infrastructure strategies, business plans, roadmaps, budget

planning and forecasting based on Infrastructure activities and initiatives
- Develop, analyze, and evaluate network solutions ensuring that it meets with the business requirements, cost effective and

adhere to Transnet standards and frameworks.
- Developing IT standards and protocols in line with Transnet architecture and industry ‘best practice’
- Advise business of respective costs for budgeting purposes and ensure that the monthly allocations are completed.
- Manage the delivery of network Infrastructure solutions and services and ensure that they are monitored and maintained to

the highest levels of quality, standards and operability as defined within negotiated and agreed service level agreements,

- Negotiate with service providers, vendors and contractors to secure infrastructure-specific products and services are

delivered to TPL.
- Ensuring customers are delighted by the quality of IT Infrastructure network services and through regular feedback within

the environment.
- Ensure successful management of the IT Service Management landscape within Transnet through best practices (ITIL,

COBIT & ISO 20000)
- Work collaboratively with Transnet Group and other divisions on transversal strategies, plans, design, implementations and

network services to ensure that TPL business needs are addresse
