Hod Steel Welding

**Rhino manufacturing Plant** is searching for **HOD Steel Welding & Finishing** **Manager** to join the branch in **Rosslyn**. The purpose of the job is to manage welding and finishing of steel canopy products, cattle rails and accessories.

**Requirements**:

- 2+ years’ experience in manufacturing production setup
- Basic computer skills / literacy
- Grade 12 or 5+ years’ experience in welding, steel fabrication, vehicle body building, panel beating or related sheet metal fabrication
- 1+ years’ experience in middle management position

**Key Performance Indicators includes, but not limited to.**:

- Follow standard operating procedure
- Ensure all staff in Dept follows standard operating procedure for set jobs
- Maintain and exceed minimum production requirements
- Meet & exceed set quality standards
- Overall low NCR and rework ratio
- Zero scrap ratio
- Improve on welding procedures and SOP’s
- Daily reporting to Senior management & Quality manager
- General house keeping
- General discipline within department
- Timeous completing of all production documentation
- Updating Rhinoman production system in real time
- Comply with health and safety code

**Responsibilities towards Steel Welding & Finishing department employees**
- Manage day to day staff requirements and issues and ensure that employees comply with company policy and procedures.
- Maintain good discipline and working relations. Be consequent in disciplinary action and work according to Motus disciplinary code. Refer issues and serious transgressions to HR where necessary.
- Ensure that all employees always follow correct working procedures and comply with all applicable health and safety regulations. (ensure all employees are aware of correct working procedures and H&S regulations)
- Ensure and assist employees in reaching their production requirements daily
- Constantly evaluate employee work performance
- Facilitate and oversee any inhouse training
- Weekly toolbox talk in cooperation with SHE reps

**Production / Operational**
- Receive steel canopy kits and cattle rails from processing in accordance with purchase order & complete relevant documentation and submit to accounts clerk.
- Chase outstanding PO’s that are close to due date.
- Update internal production software with received kits. (Rhinoman system)
- Allocate serial numbers and corresponding production job cards.
- Put units in production according to production priority.
- Issue daily production requirement to welders and finishers
- Ensure all welders and finishers meet their production targets daily
- Ensure all job cards and production documentation are completed daily and internal production system is updated.
- Maintain quality control and sign off on all completed units ready for next process whether internal or external
- Ensure that welding reworks and NCR’s enjoy priority
- Liaise with QA’s re quality issues, complete documentation and report to quality manager.
- Prioritize closing of NCR’s and report any scrap.
- Oversee and manage all welding on prototypes.
- Developed & record welding procedures for all prototypes and report difficulties and discrepancies to senior management
- Develop and record finishing procedures for all prototypes and report difficulties or discrepancies to senior management

**Tools & Machinery**
- Keep and maintain tool and machinery register.
- Ensure all employees are issued with the correct tools and machinery in good working condition to perform their relevant tasks
- Ensure that tools and machinery are maintained in perfect working condition.
- Arrange & coordinate any repairs or warranty claims
- Report any misuse, abuse or accidental damaging

**Genera**l
- Develop and continuously improve SOP’s where possible
- Develop & implement welding & finishing procedures for new products
- Assist with implementation and maintaining of quality management system
- General housekeeping in welding department
- Stock control of canopy kits, welding consumables, various welding gas cylinders, finishing consumables etc
- Submit requirements re welding consumables to buyer timeously
- Perform tasks as requested from time to time by senior management or direct superior
