Department University of Venda -> Vice Chancellor and Principal -> Internal Auditing Job Title SENIOR INTERNAL AUDITOR (D087) (P7) Post Level Grade 7 Job Type Support - Univen Funded Closing Date 14/11/2025 Job Requirements - A Bachelor's degree in Auditing, Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline. - Active membership in good standing with the Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa (IIASA). - At least five (5) years of proven experience in the field of auditing. - Progress toward a professional certification such as CIA, IAT, or PIA is preferred; holding such a qualification will be considered an advantage. - Prior experience within the Higher Education sector is beneficial. **Duties**: Collaborate closely with the Head of Department: Internal Audit to coordinate and support audit initiatives. - Develop comprehensive audit plans aligned with established methodologies. - Participate in risk assessments to detect potential vulnerabilities or fraudulent activities. - Evaluate internal controls for effectiveness, efficiency, and adherence to University policies and regulatory standards. - Review audit documentation prepared by interns, internal auditors, and co-sourced teams to ensure proper formatting, referencing, and compliance with re-performance standards. - Uphold audit quality standards throughout all engagements. - Contribute to the drafting of audit reports, highlighting key findings and actionable recommendations. - Maintain open communication with audit team members and University management regarding audit progress and outcomes. - Ensure accurate documentation of audit procedures, observations, and recommendations. - Complete and sign off the file review checklist within ten (10) days of project completion. - Conduct bi-monthly follow-ups on internal audit findings and monitor the implementation of corrective action plans. - Provide advisory support to management and stakeholders on process improvements and risk mitigation strategies. - Coordinate meetings and manage logístical arrangements related to audit activities. - Promote ongoing awareness of internal audit practices across the University. - Stay abreast of evolving audit methodologies, industry standards, and best practices. - Engage in continuous professional development to maintain and enhance auditing competencies.
