Trust and Tax Compliance Officer Vacancy Available

Key requirements for applicants:

- Previous experience in similar function a requirement, with proven track

record
- Experience gained in trust accounting a requirement
- Experience in income tax for individuals, including for provisional tax

payers
- Matric a requirement, preferably with accounting a matric level, or

booking keeping /accounting diploma
- Computer literacy (intermediate): MS Office suite and excel at an

intermediate level
- Ability to work independently, Attention to detail and excellent

organisational skills
- Clean credit and criminal check, valid, unendorsed drivers licence and

own vehicle are required

Location: Cape Town, Southern Suburbs (Claremont/Rondebosch)

We will look favourably on applicants with Income Tax return experience too, ie tax computations and e-filing submissions on behalf of individuals - there is a portion of each role that includes these responsibilities.

About the job:
This new vacancy has been created within our clients tax service team. This role is responsible for individual income tax, trust and related tax compliance support for the Wealth Managers (Financial / Investment Advisors) within the broader business, and includes computation and preparation of annual financial statements for trusts, as well as the necessary tax compliance related thereto, as well as tax computations for individual income tax returns. Role is suited to applicants with previous income tax, and trust accounting experience, with 5+ years’ experience in this area.

Key responsibilities include:

- Preparation of annual financial statements of trusts
- Completion of return of income, including submission of return to receiver, and

calculations of tax payments and ensuring execution of same
- Timeous data capture of all relevant data on tax management and accounting

tools
- Check assessments and follow-up on errors
- Raise objections to assessments, and attend to enquiries raised by SARS
- Request and remit payments and attend to client refunds from SARS
- Provide an advisory service w.r.t. tax matters in relations to trusts, as well as

income tax for individuals
- Assist with trust compliance and audits as needed
- Make recommendations w.r.t. tax planning and provide feedback to Wealth

Managers / Trust Officers/ clients
- Liaison with internal and external clients, and support departments as needed
- Client liaison: timeous response to attending to and resolving all queries;
regular and ongoing feedback relating to progress and confirmation of
finalisation of matters to internal and external clients
