- To provide senior representation for Nedbank by liaising with the various ombudsman offices, regulatory bodies and legal representatives. Proactively advising and acting in terms of alternative dispute resolution practices, legal issues, and risk management for internal and external stakeholders. With specific impetus on the quality control of all formal responses and communication. To ensure recommendations and/ or findings made by the Ombudsman and Regulators are conveyed to the appropriate Cluster Heads.**Responsibilities**:

- Provide direct support and assistance to the Head: OBS and Regulatory Dispute Resolution.
- Represent Nedbank in mediation sessions with the Ombudsman and regulatory bodies.
- Proactively provide legal advice with a balanced business and client perspective within the alternative dispute resolution process.
- Provide quality assurance on all written communication to the internal and external stakeholders.
- Closure and / or final assessments to be scrutinized for bank and / or conduct failure and prioritized for Insights into Action and improvement to reduce repeat findings.
- Ensure recommendations and/ or findings made by the Ombudsman and Regulators are conveyed to the appropriate Cluster Heads.
- Representation of the unit in appropriate forums with respect to improvements and regulatory expectations / requirements.
- Manage the joint relationships between Client Conduct, Group & RBB Legal and Compliance.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance quality of responses; processes; systems and policies and support implementation of new processes; policies and systems.
- Ensure documentation is available/recorded attached to the formal response.
- Meet external clients’ needs by submitting responses to complaints within deadlines; provide supporting documentation; respond timeously to further questions and negotiate recommendations within the bank.
- Mitigate reputational and financial risk by highlighting service gaps in processes and non-adherence to regulatory compliance.
- Keep abreast of legislation and other industry changes that impacts on role by reading the relevant newsletters; websites and attending sessions.
- Understand and embrace the Nedbank vision and demonstrate the values through interaction with team and stakeholders.
- Improve personal capability and stay abreast of developments in field of expertise by identifying training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from managers.
- Ensure personal growth and enable effectiveness in performance of roles and responsibilities by ensuring all learning activities are completed; experience practiced, and certifications obtained and/or maintained within specified time frames.
- Build and maintain effective internal/external relationships by organizing workshops; discussion forums and keeping the team updated on changes in the department or new requirements from the Regulatory bodies.
- Contribute to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals by participating in Nedbank Culture building initiatives (e.g.: staff surveys etc.).
- Participate and support corporate social responsibility initiatives for the achievement of key business strategies.
- Essential Qualifications - NQF Level- Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree
- Preferred Qualification- Masters of Law degree
- LLB degree
- Admitted attorney and / or previously practicing
- Minimum Experience Level- Min 5 years’ experience as a Legal Practitioner in the banking sector with a focus on dispute resolution
