Head Asset Management

Reporting
- Accountable to SPV board/s as the primary delegation of the project company
- Prepares and delivers board packs, with support of shared services
- Ensures that the Board members and management are properly informed to enable them to form appropriate judgments
- Oversees asset performance monitoring and reporting against KPIs, including health, safety, environmental, financial, operational, economic development and contractual obligations.
- Manages and reports on the implementation of asset Annual Operating Plans (AOPs)
- Chairs the Asset Management Committee
- Is responsible delivering and communicating complex reports for a range of audiences

Strategic Support
- In conjunction with the relevant Board, provides input to the development of company’s and the project companies’ strategies
- Is responsible for the development, and accountable for the implementation, of asset Annual Operating Plans (AOPs), financial forecasts and budgets and aligns these with the broader organisation’s strategies and plans
- Supports broader corporate processes and business development initiatives, where appropriate
- Assists with the development, implementation and continuous improvement of’ company's asset management system (AMS) for its portfolio of power plants, based on ISO 55001

Operational and Health & Safety
- Acts at OHS Act 16.1, ensuring that the duties of the company, as contemplated in the OHS Act (1993) are properly discharged. He/she may also be the appointed OHS Act 16.2, if based at a plant site
- Ensures that plants are managed safely, and in an environmentally, technically, and commercially optimized manner, in compliance with all corporate and relevant local standards and companypolicies.

People Management
- Does not hold final power of staff appointment, but is responsible for managing staff planning and recommending final staff selections within the asset cluster
- Aligns team goals with organisational goals and broader vision/direction and allocates/manages team resources effectively
- Motivates the team to achieve organisational and departmental goals/KPIs
- Ensures asset clusters are appropriately organized and staffed to manage the requisite assets
- Develops, evaluates and motivates for the reward of the asset cluster team, aligned to organisational and team goals, to ensure the relevant skills, experience and capability to carry out required functions
- Coordinates activities between asset cluster, shared services and Pele management

Financial
- Seeks to maximize shareholder value of the assets by having full profit and loss responsibility for assets under management
- Annual budget preparation, including day-to-day budget responsibility for designated project companies
- Ensures financial control systems are adhered to
- Ensures all project companies adhere to budget constraints
- Monitors asset performance against AOPs and budgets, including operational and capital expenditure.

Commercial
- Assesses the principal risks to each project company and ensures these are monitored, managed and reported on
- Leads commercial and technical negotiations with outside parties on behalf of the assets under management with the support of other staff members
- Ensures that contractual obligations are met

Stakeholder Relations/Compliance
- Ensures project company compliance with economic development and socio-economic development (ED and SED) obligations
- Ensures the company meets other obligations and exercises its rights under the project agreements
- Ensures compliance with corporate governance standards
- Develops, manages and maintains stakeholder relations and a positive company image between assets under management, government, the off-taker (Eskom), the IPP Office, the Department of Energy, regulators, equity partners, lenders, vendors and other relevant stakeholders.
- Builds working relationships with all organisational functions - asset management, operations, finance, economic development, and human resources.
- Maintains community and public relations through direct contacts with community individuals or groups

Plant Operations
- Accountable for operational outcomes. May delegate responsibility to asset cluster staff and/or contractors
- Accountable for technical performance. May delegate responsibility to cluster staff and/or contractors
- Accountable for development and implementation of lifecycle asset management plans
- Accountable for asset reporting on weekly and monthly basis. May delegate responsibility to cluster staff and/or contractors
- Accountable for capex projects. May delegate responsibility to cluster staff and/or contractors Ensures that the assets’ O&M and systems are applied, consistent with overall company policies and guidelines
- Ensures compliance and improvement of business processes within the organisation including management of change, maintenance plan development, maintenance planning and scheduling, work order management, materials management
