- Grade 12 (with Maths)
- Blasting Ticket (E)
- Diploma (Mining or Mechanical or Explosives Engineering)
- Advanced Blasting course
- SHERQ Qualification (National or International)
**Experience**
- 5 years mining experience including underground mining, blasting, blast auditing and reporting.
- Knowledge or experience in performing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical work.
- 3 years' demonstrated experience in supervising employees.
- 3 years’ demonstrated experience in responsibility for managing costs
**Duties**
- Interacting and liaising with customers on a daily basis.
- Enhancing service delivery.
- Planning and organizing to meet orders.
- Testing and quality assurance of the product.
- Ensuring underground safety.
- Bench marking.
- Reporting on previous blasts and general.
- Sample analysis.
- Weekly inspection of UV.
- Monthly report to BME management and mine including a blasting efficiencies report and cost analysis
- Training of mine personnel.
- Implementation of shock tube initiation system.
- Fragmentation Analysis.
- Improvement of ore production and grade efficiency.
- Technical assistance with regards to underground mining operations.
- Oversee storage area.
- Monitor stock levels.
- Replenish stock and place orders.
- Administering the orders of products.
- Ensuring the correct procedures are followed regarding the offloading of HEF trucks.
- Administration of stock (with assistance of mine).
- Exercise financial control in line with site expenditures.
- Cost analysis report for Mine Management.
- Responsible to ensure that all the requirements of the OSH Act, and statutory prescriptions (at a minimum) are met on the site.
- Responsible for ensuring that staff working on the site meet all the statutory, legal and BME SHEQ requirements, standards, and prescriptions
necessary for the performance of day-to-day activities on the site as well as preparing for and executing a detonation. This includes, among
other things, the items on the Monthly Site Inspection Form as well as for underground blasting preparation and exec.
- Ensure order number for orders are received.
- Follow up of payments.
- Ensure mine performs timely maintenance.
- Calibration of charging units.
- Perform maintenance on electrical, mechanical and hydraulic system.
- Assist mine with maintenance and repairs
**Job Competencies**
- Knowledge of Explosives Act.
- Knowledge of Occupational safety and health Act.
- Knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act.
