The Department of Pharmacy seeks to appoint a pharmacist or a health care

professional with interest in academia who is willing to further develop his/her

academic profile. To this end, two (2) positions of an Associate Professor/ Full

requirements stipulated hereunder:
Associate Professor/Full Professor: Pharmacy (2 x positions)

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor of Pharmacy degree or Bachelor of Pharmacology,

Master’s Degree and PhD degree in Pharmacy with specialisation in

Pharmaceutics or Pharmacology.

Associate Professor

Doctoral Degree and research publications are normally required.

Sustained high quality performance at the teaching and research levels in the

pharmacy area and the potential to maintain and improve this level.

Established as a teacher and researcher in the field of pharmacy and related

sciences with at least some significant scholarly recognition and standing.

Sustained record of recent quality publications in peer-reviewed journals or

other equivalent outputs considered to be a body of coherent quality work that

attest to an ongoing engagement within a specific research field related to

pharmacy.

Minimum of five publications in SAPSE recognised journals

Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience and proven record in

postgraduate student supervision

Supervision of completed Masters students research projects

Proven record in or potential to contribute to research and community outreach

projects in the area of health sciences.

Excellent computer skills and knowledge in the implementation of integrated

curriculum.

Experience in either pharmacy education, curriculum design or teaching

Professional registration would be an added advantage.

Full Professor

Doctoral Degree and research publications are normally required.

Sustained high quality performance at the teaching and research levels in the

pharmacy area and the potential to maintain and improve this level.

Established as a teacher and researcher in the field of pharmacy and related

sciences with at least some level of international significant recognition and

standing.

Sustained record of recent quality publications in peer-reviewed journals or

other equivalent outputs considered to be a body of coherent quality work that

attest to an ongoing engagement within a specific research field related to

pharmacy.

A Minimum of eight publications in SAPSE recognised journals

Minimum of eight (8) years’ relevant experience and proven record in

postgraduate student supervision

Supervision of several completed Masters and Doctoral students research

projects

Establishment of an independent research programme that is able to attract

national and international funding and collaboration.

Proven record in or potential to contribute to research and community outreach

projects in the area of health sciences.

Excellent computer skills and knowledge in the implementation of integrated

curriculum.

Experience in either pharmacy education, curriculum design or teaching

Professional registration would be an added advantage.

**Responsibilities**:
The successful applicant will be expected to:
Facilitate and lead teaching and learning in the areas of Pharmacology/Clinical

Pharmacy and or pharmaceutics related expertise.

Provide leadership in the development of learning material in the areas of

modules where Pharmacology/Clinical Pharmacy will be incorporated in the

integrated Pharmacy curriculum.

Take responsibility for leading, facilitating, developing, conducting and

publishing research in the areas of Pharmacology/Clinical Pharmacy.

Develop and conduct short learning programmes and/or continuing personal

development activities on behalf of the Department.
