**Entity and activity description**
Air Liquide started its business in South Africa over 60 years ago and employs more than 600 people today. Air Liquide supplies industrial and specialty gases to the steel, automotive and fabrication, food and beverage, mining, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and glass industries. It also supplies medical gases through a network of many state and private hospitals as well as solutions and services to home based patients.

ALLISA is a separate entity from all current Air Liquide entities in South Africa and reports directly to the AMEI Hub, with its own set of policies and procedures as well as compensation structure. This position is based in Secunda.

**Missions and Responsibilities**
The Mechanical Foreman within the ALLISA organization, reporting to the Mechanical Area Manager, is responsible for **the effective maintenance of the rotating equipment (pump and fans) in the plant** and to ensure **availability **and **reliability **of equipment and facilities through the coordination and execution of **preventative and corrective maintenance responsibilities**. His/her main activities include:

- **Business/Technical **:Plan, control and manage the operational maintenance activities and ensure effective execution of operations/maintenance activities. Ensure compliance to relevant ALLISA procedures, policies, legislation and business processes. Ensure maintenance planning is scheduled optimally to maximize production output. Ensure own team members are adhering to operational/maintenance procedures. Perform and participate in potential deviation analysis (PDA) and root cause analysis (RCA) assessments. Ensure that the MOC process is followed, and that modified plant/maintenance procedures are implemented by artisans. Manage certain start-up and shutdown tasks. Provide information and assist with technical and support functions projects. Ensure maximum task quality and efficiency, and overall effective use of equipment.
- **Cost Management **:Manage and control costs (where allocated budget responsibility is assigned).
- **Safety (SHERQ) **:Ensure adherence to SHERQ legal standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001) and implement SHERQ processes for their own area of responsibility. Evaluate abnormalities during emergency situations, and take corrective action to avoid downtime, equipment damage and/or SHERQ incidents. Conduct Task Risk Assessments and ensure that the team conducts Task Risk Assessments (where applicable).
- **Stakeholder Relations **:Ensure sound stakeholder relationship management by influencing decisions and actions of stakeholders in other departments/disciplines by providing relevant technical input. Facilitate effective communication up and down from management and also within own and other stakeholder teams.
- **People Management and Leadership **:Take the lead in team efforts and tasks. Live ALLISA’s values and ensure compliance of the team members to the ALLISA values Manage performance of own team members. Ensure sensitisation to diversity in the workplace. Ensures team motivation and team wellness. Contribute to the development of team members as part of their personal development plans (PDP’s) for career progression/ advancement. Provide ongoing mentoring and coaching for team members.

**Competencies and Profile** Technical skills**:
A minimum of five (5) years relevant experience as a Maintenance Artisan / Technician
Experience in maintaining rotating equipment is required

**Education**:
Grade 12 with Math, Science, English
NQF 4 Occupational Trade Qualification OR NQF 4 Qualification (with the NQF 4 Occupational Trade Qualification)

**Key Competencies**:
Adequate experience in inventory management (especially critical spares).
Ability to interpret basic mechanical engineering drawings such as General Assembly Drawings
A strong knowledge and understanding Health and Safety rules, regulations and processes
A strong knowledge and understanding of Statutory Governance Requirements
A strong knowledge and understanding of maintenance practices and procedures and shutdown procedure management
A strong knowledge of, CMMS, Microsoft Office and G-Suite
