Job Title- Lecturer/Senior Lecturer - Centre for Development Support (2-Year Contract Appointment) (Job ID: 5933)- Organizational Unit- University of the Free State -> Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences -> Centre for Development Support- Contract Type- Contract- Occupational Level- Junior Management- Location- Bloemfontein Campus - Bloemfontein, FS ZA (Primary) - Closing Date- 24/10/2024- Description**Duties and responsibilities**: - Finalise the curriculum for the restructured master's degree. - Oversee the development of study guides. - Integrate conceptual ideas across all modules/curriculum coherence. - Integrate relevant graduate attributes into modules. - Ensure pedagogical alignment across modules. - Monitor the quality of teaching and learning across all modules. - Develop and teach in at least one module. - Day-to-day management of research projects on universities and sustainable development: administration, budgeting, managing post-doctoral fellows on the project, designing and conducting fieldwork interviews and participatory research, drafting papers, organising webinars and other public engagement events, developing project websites. **Inherent requirements**: **Lecturer** - A PhD on NQF Level 10 in Development Studies related to human development and higher education. - A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in curriculum development and alignment of courses with the guidelines from authorities (for example, SAQA). - Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities. - Evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals. - A good academic record. **Senior Lecturer** - PhD on NQF Level 10 in Development Studies related to human development and higher education. - A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in curriculum development and alignment of courses with the guidelines from authorities (for example, SAQA). - Proven experience in the presentation of papers/posters at national scholarly conferences. - Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship. - An NRF rating or demonstrated potential for obtaining an NRF rating. - Proven experience in supervision of graduated master’s degree students. - A proven research record of relevant publication/s in peer reviewed national and international accredited scientific journals. - Proven experience of service as an active member of a national or international scholarly society or committee or agency concerned with research at higher-education levels. **Recommendations**: - Familiarity with higher education research and debates and sustainable development debates. - Experience working on a funded research project. - Able to work in a teaching team and a research project team. - A publications record - Competencies**Required competencies**: - **Results oriented.**: - The ability to cope with a frequently changing environment and to adapt to evolving situations. - The ability to stick with tasks, not give up, and overcome obstacles in completing one’s task. **- Strategic thinking.** - The ability to focus on details, work towards perfection, and approach work in a neat and organised manner. - The ability to plan work and to follow plans. **- Business Acumen**: - Proficient in using MS Office. **- Leading.** - The ability to maintain high levels of personal motivation, energy and enthusiasm. - The ability to lead, take charge of situations, and offer opinions and directions to others. - ** Building coalitions**: - The ability to negotiate, sell, influence and to persuade others. - The ability to interact with others and establish personal connections with people. - A detailed curriculum vitae and cover letter. - Copies of qualifications (please provide the SAQA accreditation in the case of foreign qualifications). - Copies of all academic records (applicable where inherently required). - A copy of your identity document (ID or passport in the case of foreign nationals). - Proof of registration with a Professional Body (if applicable). - A copy of your driver’s license (if applicable). - Confirmation of employment from current employer / last employer if unemployed (only applicable to external applicants). **Assumption of duties**: As soon as possible. **Closing date**: 24 October 2024 **Salary**: The salary is available on request. **Fringe benefits**: (Subject to specific conditions): pension scheme, medical aid scheme, group life insurance, housing allowance, leave and sick leave, service bonus and study benefits. **Enquiries**: **General**:
