**OVERVIEW**:
We are seeking to employ a dependable Storeman to join our company.

Storeman is responsible for managing the storage and safekeeping of goods in a store or warehouse. They receive goods from suppliers, check the goods for damage and store it appropriately. They track the movement of goods and are responsible for all paperwork relating to the receiving and dispatching of goods

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**

**Minimum requirements**
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualifications
- Material Management Certificate, or equivalent (advantageous)
- 3 - 5 Years storeman experience.
- 2 Years experience working a store assistan

**JOB PURPOSE**:
The core purpose of a storeman position is to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of goods within a warehouse or storage facility. They achieve this by performing a variety of tasks centred around:

- **Receiving and Storing Goods**: Storeman handle incoming deliveries. This involves checking the quantity and condition of the goods against invoices, ensuring they match the order. They then carefully store the received items in designated locations using proper organization methods for efficient retrieval.
- **Stock Control and Inventory Management**: Maintaining accurate inventory records is a key responsibility. Storemen keep track of stock levels, using data management systems or manual methods. They may also be involved in stocktaking (physical inventory counts) to ensure the records align with reality.
- **Order Fulfilment and Picking**: When customer orders or internal requisitions need to be filled, storemen locate, pick, and prepare the requested items. Accuracy and efficiency are crucial in this task.
- **Dispatching and Packing**: Once orders are picked, storemen pack them securely for shipment or internal distribution, following proper packaging protocols and adhering to weight and dimension restrictions.
- **Maintaining the Warehouse Environment**: Storemen play a role in keeping the warehouse clean, organized, and safe. This might involve tasks like putting away misplaced items, ensuring proper aisle clearance for equipment, and following safety protocols.
- Adhering to stores operating procedures, to achieve efficiency in the store under the guidance of the Supply Chain Officer/Supply Chain Supervisor. E.g. scheduling, receiving, storage, issuing and Materials Handling processes.
- Verifying quality, condition and correctness of measure of all material received directly from suppliers and from another store.
- Returning materials where necessary.
- Ensuring effective and accurate issuing of material from stock - including picking, packing, staging and notification of customers.
- Issuing fuel and capture consumption information accurately.
- Undertaking good housekeeping practices at the stores
- Keeping records accurately, to ensure integrity of administration systems at the stores.
