Supervise and co-ordinate of all activities in the ELISA laboratory and scullery.
- Perform stock taking, make orders for reagents and consumables, and assist with compilation of CAPEX requirements.
- Prepare reagents and plates for in-house tests.
- Provide diagnostic services by testing diagnostic samples.
- Provide research support by testing research samples.
- Transfer technology with special reference to training in diagnostic assay performance and other related skills.
- Perform quality assurance duties and deputise the quality assurance officer.
- Perform biosafety and biosecurity duties.
- Comply with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Perform other work-related duties.
- MTech. Degree (or equivalent NQF7) with 2 years’ applicable experience; or B degree or B Hons degree. B.Tech., or National Higher Diploma (or equivalent NQF6) with 6 years. Applicable experience; or National Diploma (3 years) (or equivalent NQF5)
with 8 years applicable experience.
- A master’s degree in microbiology/biotechnology/related fields will be an advantage.
- Registration with SAVC is a must.
- Professional membership: SAVC registration.
- Knowledge of veterinary and zoonotic viral pathogens and diseases.
- Good interpersonal skills.
