Chemical Technician

**Chemical Technician is required for a Power Station based in Northern Cape - Upington**

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Controlling, operation and maintenance of the treatment and parameters of the Water-Steam

Cycle, Sampling and dosing system for steam cycle, Closed Cooling Circuit, Pre-treatment(clarification and filtration process), Water Treatment Plant (Reverse osmosis and CEDI system), Effluent Treatment Plant and Potable Water Circuit.
- Taking samples from fluids and soil.
- Routine analysis of fluids in the field and in the laboratory, using desktop analysers like spectrophotometer and multiparameter instruments.
- Restitution of chemical levels in tanks, transport of chemicals IBC using a forklift, telly handler

(company will provide the necessary trainings for lifting machine operation).
- Stock control of consumables related with the chemical department.
- Creating work orders and notifications of corrective maintenance and activities for this area through SAP maintenance management system.
- Supporting operations/maintenance with chemical equipment unloading and chemical systems which interacts with the rest of the plant.
- Ensuring and verifying safety conditions indicated in the PTW.
- Managing and signing the notification voucher from the opening to the closing of the PTW.

Field monitoring and communicating chemical and environmental maintenance, ensuring the veracity of the data communicated by personnel under him/her.
- Identification of waste generated at the plant.
- Supervising storage and labelling of waste generated at the plant.
- Preparing periodic reports.
- Supervising external and maintenance personnel involved in work related to the chemicals and environmental are a.
- Completing periodic chemical parameter rounds.
- Fostering a good work environment with integration and implication for a proper attitude. Ensuring compliance with safety rules. **Qualifications, experience & skills required.**:

- Diploma or Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- Certificates in Water treatment plant Operation and Maintenance with references. **Good communication Skills.**:

- Ability to work within the team.
- Able to adapt to the working environment.

Valid Driver’s Licence.
- Computer literate, Microsoft pack office.

**Salary**: R34,000.00 - R35,000.00 per month
