Diesel Technician

We are a fast growing transport and logistics company, looking for an individual who has experience working in logistics, to join our team.

The duties for this position will include, but is not limited to:
**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Service and repairs truck trailers.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections.
- Attendance of trailer breakdowns and carry our necessary repairs.
- Ensure that the safety SOP is adhered to when a breakdown is attended, and client vehicles have minimum of risk of an accident.
- Attend to COF defects on trucks.
- Attending to breakdowns, running repairs trailers and standby.
- Performing preventative maintenance on service trailers.
- Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist.
- Own toolbox with relevant tools to perform respective duties.
- Correctly analyse faults and request quotes timeously.
- Perform Quality and accurate repairs to all trailer units.
- Keep downtime to a minimum as per site requirements.
- Must have the ability to do maintenance and repairs to side tippers, Interlink tautliners. As per manufacture service and maintenance recommendation and torque settings.
- Use own toolbox with relevant tools to perform respective duties.
- Be able to work on Henred and BPW systems.
- Ensure trailers are always roadworthy and in a good working condition.
- Do brake test after all brake overhauls.
- Knowledge of mechanical and air suspension.
- Repair and rewiring of ABS wiring. Lock rings and sensors.
- Check and report on wheel bearings.
- Check and report on brake lining wear and springs
- Check and report on chassis cracks.
- Check and report on suspension and rocker arms and bushes.
- Check and report on all lights, interior, and marker lights.
- Condition report on side protection bars and replace when necessary.
- Repairs and replacement of ABS wiring and sensors.
- Check and report on all air pipes and couplings.
- Condition report on load boxes and floors.
- Condition report on the overhaul on the trailer and company branding.
- Check and report on apron plate and kingpins using the measuring tools provided.
- Check and report on landing leg support and landing legs.
- Computer literate to reprogram and do adjustments on trailer modulators and ABS repairs.
- Always maintain a clean and safe working area.
- Housekeeping and health and safety needs to apply.
- Administrating and regular reporting to management regarding breakdowns, repairs, and services of trailers.
- Ensure job cards is completed as per company policy and procedures.
- Perform ancillary duties to the above and determined by management on an ongoing basis.
- Ensure company breakdown vehicles is clean, inspected and log sheets with breakdown register is completed on all shifts.
- Attention to detail when coming to the repairing and servicing of trailers.
- Their main duties include running fault-finding tests on trailers.
- Repairing or replacing vehicle brakes, and other associated parts.
- Ensure preventative maintenance is always adhered to prevent a major breakdown.
- Technician must be able to do brake overall on trailers.

**Desired Experience & Qualification**
- Diesel Trade Test
- 3 - 5 Years experience.
- Code 14 driver's license.

**Salary**: R21,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Delmas, Mpumalanga: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
