Recreation Officer

**Job Purpose**:
To facilitate the delivery of active and passive Recreation Development through the provision of
various programmes, events and capacity building opportunities.

**Key Responsibility Areas**:

- Preparing and organising both passive and active recreation programmes
- Assisting the senior recreation officer with the organisation of events
- Facilitating recreation leadership courses, clinics, workshops, and seminars
- Assisting with the administrative and operational functions of the department
- Organizing, administering and implementing recreation programs
- Assisting with the establishment of forums and committees within the wards and districts
- Implementing and facilitating educational and training opportunities such as practical lessons,
coaching camps, training camps, courses and clinics
- Assisting with establishment positive partnerships between national provincial and local
government departments
- Establishing a volunteer database and create volunteer training

**Special Conditions**:
Must be prepared to work flexible hours.
Must be prepared to work on week-ends
Must be prepared to travel

**Essential Requirements**:

- Relevant 3 year tertiary qualification.
- Valid motor vehicle drivers license (Code B).
- 3 Years relevant experience.

**Preferred Requirements**:

- Relevant Bachelors Degree or 3 Year Diploma with Honours in Recreation Management and
or Development.
- Valid First Aid Certificate.
- 4 Years relevant experience.
