**Job Advert Summary**: Managing the Water Wise Research & Education Section to ensure that RW consumers are enabled to conserve water by providing technical advice, expertise and statistics and by undertaking research to support water conservation initiatives. To ensure RW meets or exceeds its obligations under the Water Act, to provide consumers with leading edge information on wise use of water. Coordinate all technical and data research, Green Industry advertising strategy, editorial content, educational material, educational opportunities, projects and industry relations for the Water Wise (WW) brand.
**Primary Duties**: - Reporting for the section. - Monitor research (international) and undertake research (WW and environmental) through organisations and in-house. - Provide technical advice and specialist service throughout the fields of Water Conservation, horticulture and related environmental fields. - Effective budget and financial management of projects and work. - Develop a range of Water Wise educational material and opportunities aimed predominantly at adults. - Project Management and completion of projects as required and within set time & budget constraints. - To comply with SHE and Quality Acts/regulations in managing projects/work effectively. - Able to work across a broad range of different horticultural/water wise projects. - Constant liaison with the Green Industry, business, Green media and relevant government departments on WW to ensure vibrant relationships and that water conservation is promoted and increased. - Assessment of and production of material for various suitable media (print, video, social media & verbal). - Able to set up and implement applied research projects as well as market research projects. - Increase awareness and implementation of water conservation for Green Industry, Business, Green media, homeowners, parastatals, government and other stakeholders. - Provide Rand Water, public and industry with world class, water conservation/water demand management information matters, news and results.
**Knowledge**: - Knowledge of water conservation, soils, irrigation, plants, ecology, landscaping. - Sound knowledge of Green Industry, horticulture, nursery management, parastatals, water “bodies”. - Knowledge of weather station & appropriate research equipment. - Project management.
