Job Title- Intern - Office of the Dean (Contract appointment: 12 months) (3 positions) (Job ID: 5993)- Organizational Unit- University of the Free State -> Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences -> Office of the Dean: Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences- Contract Type- Contract- Occupational Level- Temporary- Location- Bloemfontein Campus - Bloemfontein, FS ZA (Primary) - Closing Date- 29/11/2024- Description**Duties and responsibilities**: - Manage the reception area in the Dean’s office. - Refer students and visitors to the appropriate person/department. - Assist with faculty registration and progression processes. - Assist students with curriculum advice (in collaboration with the Teaching & Learning and Faculty Managers). - Assist students with time-tabling enquiries. - Assist with faculty marketing events and activities. - Capture comments on student records. - Assist with research-related activities. - Manage faculty proxy mailboxes. - Communicate with students, the public and UFS staff members. **Inherent requirements**: - Bachelor's degree on NQF Level 7 from the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences. - Provisional acceptance letter for an Honours, master’s or PhD qualification in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences for 2025 (attach a copy). **Recommendations**: - Postgraduate contact sessions should be after working hours. - Sound academic record. - An Honours degree on NQF Level 8 or master’s degree on NQF Level 9 from the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences - The applicant should not currently be participating in an existing learnership/internship programme. - The applicant should not have any previous formal work experience. - The applicant must be willing to sign a learnership/internship agreement with UFS. - The applicant must be available for the period of 1 year to participate in the learnership/internship. - Competencies**Required competencies**: - **Results oriented.**: - The ability to stick with tasks, not give up, and overcome obstacles in completing one’s task. - The ability to deal calmly and effectively with high-stress situations. **- Strategic thinking.** - The ability to focus on details, work towards perfection, and approach work in a neat and organised manner. - The ability to carefully analyse information and use logic to address issues and problems at work. **- Business Acumen**: - Proficient in using MS Office. **- Leading.** - The ability to maintain high levels of personal motivation, energy and enthusiasm. - The ability to be cooperative with others, display a good-natured attitude and encourage people to work together. **- Building coalitions** - The ability to be self-assured and at ease with people in all types of social situations. - The ability to interact with others and establish personal connections with people. - A detailed curriculum vitae and cover letter. - Copies of qualifications (please provide the SAQA accreditation in the case of foreign qualifications). - A copy of your identity document (ID or passport in the case of foreign nationals). - Confirmation of employment from current employer / last employer if unemployed (only applicable to external applicants). **Assumption of duties**: As soon as possible. **Closing date**: 29 November 2024 **Salary**: The salary is R8 567.50 per month. **Enquiries**: **General**:
