Requirements
- B degree or B Tech degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of eight (8) years’ relevant experience,

of which three (3) years in HV Substations environment
- Four (4) years of management experience is preferred
- Exposure to operational maintenance management
- Certification in terms of the Occupational Health

and Safety Act
- Registered or eligible to be registered as a professional

Engineer.

Key Performance Areas
- Manage the High Voltage Substation Section which includes

strategising, planning, supervising, controlling,

providing expert professional guidance and direction

including standards and specifications
- Coordinate the activities of relevant divisions of

this Department in High Voltage Substations such

as arranging and co-coordinating investigations,

implementing corrective measures and contract/

project management
- Provide a high-level consulting and advisory service

across the High Voltage Area and the industry on

policy, strategy and standards
- Communicate with internal and external clients and

specialists, consultants, ESKOM, other utilities,

local and foreign manufacturers to work on issues

of common interest
- Set criteria for planning schedules, compiling,

checking, endorsing and submitting to the Division

Management all the plans and reports on capital

projects, operating budget, transport and plant

requirements and expenditure for HV Substations Section
- Organise the development of staff at all levels

in High Voltage Substations’ operation, maintenance

and repairs functions including long term strategy

material resources for staff training and compiling
