Job DescriptionThe Laboratory Technician (LT), reporting to the Senior Analyst, is responsible for carrying out the following functions within the Laboratory Services (LS) Business Unit.

1. Ensures accurate and timeous completion of prescribed analytical protocols and accompanying administrative duties.

2. Optimizes the use of the equipment in the preparative section of the laboratory

3. Ensure service delivery to customers

4. Self-Management

5. Minimize Financial Risks

6. Statutory Duties

7. Implementation of QMS (ISO 17025)

8. Communication and reporting to internal stakeholders.
- Job Requirements**Qualifications**: - Minimum qualification of a National Diploma Analytical Chemistry/ Bachelor of Science Degree and should have a proven track record in the field of Analytical Chemistry, preferably in a food testing environment.

**Experience**:The Laboratory Technician should have at least 2 years relevant practical laboratory experience in an ISO 17025 accredited environment. The role requires a sound understanding of the intricacies of laboratory methods and techniques as well as the applicable science related to laboratory tests, composition analysis, etc.

**Skills**:The Laboratory Technician requires the following skill set to perform the functions of the assigned role:

- A sound understanding of the intricacies of analytical methods and laboratory techniques, particularly Mycotoxin and SO2
- Sound understanding of QMS system requirements.
- Well developed interpersonal skills,
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Sound technical record keeping techniques
- Ability to work under pressure
- Propensity to pay attention to detail
- Computer literate
