**Physical Science Educator - Laboratory Technician**

**Claremont**

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our growing team. In this position, you will set up samples and experiments to enhance the transfer of education to pupils at the school. Experience in data collection and interpretation as well as a keen attention to details and a string work ethic is a must

**_Requirements: _**
- Relevant qualification (Physical Science Educators will also be considered for this position)
- 2-5 years of experience in an analytical lab environment
- Strong Math and computer skills
- Strong knowledge of analytical techniques, understanding of proper chemical handling, use, storage and disposal
- Healthy self-awareness and a well-developed sense of duty of care towards students and colleagues
- Excellent administrative, communication and organisational skills
- Shows initiative and is creative with fresh ideas to approach a task
- The ability to integrate technology with confidence and flair to support a blended learning environment which engages students

**_Key Performance Areas: _**
- Test and set up lab equipment
- Use lab machinery/equipment and computer programs to conduct tests and set up experiments
- Collect and interpret data; prepare reports
- Report any health and safety issues
- Maintain glassware by picking-up, cleaning, washing, and sterilizing
- Order, receive, and inventory new glassware as needed
- Ensure successful experiments by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs
- Document information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books
- Resolve problems as they arise by examining and evaluating data
- Complete projects by assisting project team; attend and participate in team, department, and all-hands meetings

**Salary**: R1.00 - R2.00 per month
