We are an established financial services call center based in Umhlanga and we require a motivated and reliable **Food Assistant** to join our team at our in-house Café In this fast-paced and exciting role, you’ll handle a variety of tasks, including food preparation, grilling, cooking, and frying, while ensuring the kitchen stays clean and organized. You’ll take pride in serving delicious dishes to our customers, making sure every meal is a delightful experience. **Key Responsibilities**:

- Handle all aspects of food preparation in a canteen, including grilling, cooking, and frying foods.
- Keep food preparation areas clean and maintain the cleanliness of the canteen and kitchen.
- Assist in the greater kitchen as required, maintaining high quality and standards within a pressurized environment.
- Ensure compliance with company and HSE regulations regarding cleanliness and hygiene in all tasks.
- Meet quality standards for customer service, health and safety, and food standards.
- Assist in preparing meals, especially salads and sandwiches.
- Place orders for salads, desserts, and other food on the serving line and ensure the serving line remains well-stocked and clean.
- May assist in training new employees.
- Store and record food leftovers.
- Ensure a high level of customer service within the area of responsibility and meet customer expectations.
- Report and address customer and client complaints or compliments as necessary.
- Attend meetings and training courses as required.
- Perform any other related duties or tasks as assigned by management or the Canteen Manager/Front House Supervisor.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Matric
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- ** Must have at least 1 to 2 years** of experience as a **food service assistant** / in a similar role
- Culinary qualification (advantageous)
