Internal Auditor Digital Controls

The University of Limpopo is looking to recruit a high-calibre individual to join its

internal audit team.

The individual should have a thorough knowledge and understanding of audit

procedures, including risk driven audit planning techniques and methods. This role

interacts at all levels throughout the organisation and thus the person appointed must

have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, have good human resource

and systems skills, and good motivational and persuasive skills. Demonstrate initiative

and thrive in a challenging and goal-oriented environment.

Duties and responsibilities

Evaluations of risks to identify potential digital threats and vulnerabilities.

Design audit program and determine appropriate procedures and

examination technique to be applied

Assess system description of the audit area

Evaluate the effectiveness of existing digital controls and recommend

improvements.

Consult policy, procedures and regulations applicable to the audit area

Evaluate data protection measures, including encryption, backup, and recovery

processes

components.

Audit network security controls to prevent unauthorized access and data

breaches.

Review physical and logical security controls of digital systems.

Use data analytic tool, e.g. ACL to analyse data.

Qualifications:
B Degree/Diploma in Information Technology/Computer Science/Digital

Forensic Investigation or related fields.

Additional qualification (Added advantage)

Certifications and familiarity in fields related to cyber and information technologies (e.g

incident response, information security standards such as ISO27001/2&NIST,

programming, penetration testing, IT security) or other

related fields (data analytics, e -discovery)

**Experience**:
Experience in conducting IT auditing, digital forensic investigation,

cybersecurity of which 3years was spent at an Audit Firm.

Experience in working with tools used to obtain and process data for audits

(e.g.Relativity, XWays, NUIX, EnCase, FTK, NUIX).

Experience in collecting and using data from the open sources, and

summarizing findings after analyzing several sources of information

Experience with auditing digital systems, IT infrastructure, and data

management processes.

**Skills**:Strong understanding of digital controls, cybersecurity principles, and risk

management.

High analytical skills, and the ability to talk about and express complex technical

issues in a simple way,

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Proficiency in audit methodologies and tools.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Detail-oriented with strong logical skills.
