Quality Control Manager

Provide technical support as required within allocated areas of operations, including but not limited to:

- Experimental design, experimental testing, plant investigations and reporting
- Input raw materials and components through the development of and compliance to the schedule of analysis
- Supply development, supplier quality management systems and quality of raw materials
- Serve as the quality custodian for allocated areas with respect to implementation, maintenance, improvement and auditing of the AEL quality management system rooted in ISO 9001
- Develop and maintain a framework of measurements that support early problem detection and identification of quality deviations
- Implement and manage projects using Six Sigma and best practice methodologies
- Research, design and recommend improvements on quality specifications and standards
- Develop and maintain quality plans to ensure fit for purpose raw materials, sub components and final products
- Monitor compliance to quality plans by production personnel through regular auditing and reporting
- Lead investigations into unusual incidents with regard to quality and cost
- Conduct all activities and tasks relating to the introduction of new products and processes as dictated by the NPI process company standard
- Assist with process capability studies as required
- Manage the closure and quality of corrective actions stemming from customer complaints, threshold models and plant investigations as per company standards
- Co-ordinate technical development of product or material specifications
- Conduct alternative raw material trials and acceptances as required
- Ensure production traceability data is accessible and fit for purpose in the event of product recalls and customer complaints
- Investigate and report on customer complaints
- Conduct supplier audits in line with the AEL’s Supplier Quality Management programme as required

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Eng. Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Equivalent/Relevant tertiary qualifications
- At least three (3) years relevant experience is required (preferably explosives manufacturing)
- Working knowledge of all legal and safety requirements, e.g. Explosives Act, OHS Act, and Factory / Departmental Regulations
- Knowledge of good explosive practices is necessary
- Knowledge and understanding of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing or similar manufacturing philosophies
- Knowledge of Industrial Relations Procedures
- Good understanding of the AEL quality management system and ISO 9001
