**REPORTING TO**:Operations manager

**RESPONSIBLE FOR**:Controlling and analyzing of the trailer yard movements

**JOB PURPOSE**:Full controlling function of truck movements in and out of the trailer yard, this is relating to owned, inter and external fleets. The defects, road worthiness and cleanliness of owned and inter-company fleets done and reported daily upon pre/post trips. The cleanliness and neatness of the trailer yard forms part of the positions scope.

**Roles and Responsibilities**

**Fleet responsibilities**:

- Ensure daily pre and post trip inspections are done on all owned and inter-company vehicles/trailers.
- Ensure that any defects, non-compliance and/or cleanliness issues firstly noted in writing, secondly reported to the correct department and thirdly followed through of rectifying in the shortest time frame possible.
- All movements of fleet either owned, inter-company or external are managed and guided by yourself.
- Daily liaising with regards to hired and/or collection vehicles confirmation of information (correct registration, driver detail, truck/trailer description) to operations and loading/dispatch departments. Logging of time of arrival, time spending in the yard and plant as well as dispatch.
- All loaded vehicles and trailers are under cover, parked straight and positioned correctly. Further ensuring that the loads are tied down properly and where needed tarped.
- Managing of the parking within the trailer yard, straight line parking of empty trailers and ridged vehicles.
- Ensure that all trucks are washed at a minimum of once a week, but after each long-distance trip.

**Driver responsibilities**:

- Ensure all drivers adhere to the PPE requirements
- Ensure driver fill diesel in the vehicles after each trip
- Pre and post inspections are conducted with the driver and signed off
- Gate pass control, ensuring that all drivers leaving the yard has the correct gate pass
- Driver room is clean and tidy

**Yard responsibilities**:

- Dunnage management, keeping record of recoveries, issuing and scrapped
- Equipment control, logging of fire extinguishers expiry date (planning of services), booking all loading equipment in and out
- Cleanliness of the yard

**Admin responsibilities**:

- Keeping record of all vehicles and trailers that went through the washbay
- Log all truck movements in and out of the trailer yard
- Log time of shunters on each load being loaded
- Stock takes of all equipment (Straps, ratches, tarpaulins, nets, Fire extinguishers, chains)

**Accident and incident responsibilities**:

- Ensure full investigation on all trailer incidents and accidents.

**Requirements**:

- Grade 12.
- At least 1-2 years of work experience in a similar position.
- Team player.
- Good communication and time management skills.
- Good organizational skills.
