**Company Overview**:
Our client is a specialist medium sized design and project consultancy specialising in mineral and metals processing focusing on fixed price (EPC/LSTK) projects from design up to the commissioning phase. The company has 25+ years’ experience with more than 50 Iron Ore, Diamonds, Coal and Mineral Sands Plants constructed over the past 17 years. Delivering greenfield and brownfield projects across Africa, Australia, Europe, Asia and South America - well geared to deliver projects in remote locations and developing countries. Detailed engineering and procurement is done in South African and they have their own purpose-built facility in Johannesburg for plant fabrication and full trial assembly.

**Position Overview**:
Take accountability for the deployment of the design process detail within the design cell for conveyors and related equipment used in mineral processing. Work under the instruction of the Drawing Office Manager to complete designs and drafting work including drawings within negotiated standards of time, cost and quality. Ensure the quality of the design departments’ technical product documentation is produced in accordance with both published national/international standards, and company design standards, in a timely fashion and in line with project timelines.

**Key Responsibilities and Expected Outputs**:

- Delivery of right first-time design definition
- Overseeing all design projects, from conception to delivery
- Reviewing junior designers’ work to ensure high quality
- General design draughting skills, knowledge of AutoCAD and Inventor, preparation of 3D model layouts and or plant layouts.
- Creating 2D drawings for customers as well as issuing 2D drawings for process approval. You will be required, from time to time, to perform site visits for “as built” measurements after which you will have to update 3D models according to obtained measurements/info.
- Deliver design engineering definition tasks that consider the customer requirements, process and technologies available to the company and the means to verify and validate the design
- Complete as-built by utilizing RFIs, ECNs and red-marked drawings from construction to develop “Conformed to Construction Records” as required
- Develop skills to prepare drawings, sketches and layouts using basic drafting techniques
- Pick up redlines on shop drawings & general arrangement packages
- Overseeing employees within the drawing office and external resources
- Provide updates and reports
- Allocation and prioritization of drawing requests taking into account cost, competency within the team and value creation of the request
- Technical support and consultation to management, project and plant engineers and team members
- Check and approve engineering drawings from the points of view of technical completeness, conformance with ISO standards, dimensional accuracy and the correct specification of materials and processes.
- Able to read and understand PFD’s and PID’s.
- Resolve checked drawings

**Required Qualifications / Registrations***:

- Suitable Draughting qualification

**Required Experience***:

- 8-10+ years’ experience as a Mechanical Draughtsperson
- Experience working in the mining and/or mineral processing environment, especially conveyors.
- Solid working knowledge of **Autodesk Inventor** and **AutoCAD**:

- Skilled in 3D modelling and 2D drawings.

**Additional Requirements***:

- Preferred age: 35+ years
- Able to work in an intense/ pressured environment
- Able to report to a stern and driven Drawing Office Manager.
- Ability to be a good team player, but willing to work on your own.
- You will be required to perform diligently
- Able to stick to rigid work hours (07:00 - 16:00)

- Based at the company’s head office in Modderfontein.
- Office hours: 07:00 - 16:00

**Remuneration***:

- Market related, competitive depending on the individual’s unique combination of skills and experience.
- Depending on seniority and experience, the salary can range from around R65 0000 - R75 000 CTC p.m.
