**Technical Marine Broker**

A Technical Broker position exists within the Marine Team in Cape Town. The position offers an exciting challenge and career opportunity for someone who is willing to work hard and contribute to the growth and development of the Marine Team in the Western Cape.

Whilst the focus of the job is on “Technical Broking”, due to the lack of “critical mass” within the Marine Team, the role will typically also entail some Client Servicing as well as Claims handling as required.

**We will rely on you to**:
Broking Services
- Preparation of Broking documentation
- Preparation of Renewal Questionnaires
- Collation of underwriting information
- Preparation of Loss Ratio calculations
- Identification and selection of appropriate markets
- Distribution of Broking Notes to the market
- Negotiating Marine deals (Hull and Cargo) with market
- Structuring of Marine deals
- Collation of market terms and quotes for submission to client services or clients direct
- Closings to markets/obtaining market confirmation of cover
- Confirm final placement/changes in cover to Client Services
- Premium computation and raising of invoices
- Drafting of preferred policy wordings
- Issue of policies and/or endorsements
- Preparation of other Brokers documentation as required
- 8(2)(D) Applications/Process
- Attend renewal strategy meetings as required
- Develop professional working relationship and rapport with markets (local and overseas)
- Input and feedback as required as part of budgeting, forecasting and variance reporting.

Client Services
- Assisting and supporting the Client Services Team as required.
- Handling of certain accounts as allocated
- Management of Credit Control in respect of allocated accounts (both as broker and client services role)
- Develop and build professional working relationship and rapport with allocated clients and clients where you fulfill the Technical Broking role
- Being alert to New Business opportunities and hands on involvement in new business development

Claims Services
- Providing support as necessary to the Claims Team. Managing expectations as and where necessary in relation to the portfolio of clients being handled. Interceding with Insurers as necessary to help facilitate the smooth handling of claims relating to portfolio of clients being handled.

**What you need to have**:

- FAIS compliant / Regulatory Exam Pass certificate
- No previous Marine Insurance experience is required however it would be a decided advantage.
- Matric / Grade 12 Certificate - Mathematics / Mathematics Literacy is an advantage
