**Requirements**:

- B.Eng / B.Sc / B-Tech degree in Electrical Engineering

from ECSA recognised institution.
- Registered Professional Engineer or Registered

Professional Engineering Technologist.
- At least 8 years relevant post qualification experience

in Protection Engineering and SCADA systems.
- Extensive managerial and communication experience.
- Financial analysis and SAP competency.
- A high degree of computer literacy.
- A valid B or EB driver’s licence.

Key Performance Areas
- Identify and define immediate, short and long-term objectives,

priorities and strategies associated with the provision of an
effective Protection and SCADA Section encapsulating Protection
Field Services, Protection Projects & Design, Protection
Performance Audit & Settings, as well as SCADA Field Services.
- Prepares annual capital and operating budgets for the section

and manages the implementation of financial controls and
procedures over expenditure against the approved budget
allocations.
- Directs and controls the professional, technical and

operational outcomes associated with the maintenance of the
Electricity Department’s high and medium voltage protection
and SCADA control systems.
- Manages the development and implementation of a quality

management system to monitor and verify the correct
configuration of protective relaying schemes and control systems.
- Manages the performance of protective relaying systems and

ensures that investigations are conducted into relay faults
and malfunctions.
- Directs and ensures version control of protective relay

documentation and software to ensure that the latest software
versions are available for field services and design staff.
- Project Management such as manage the formulation of

specialized contracts and tender documents and controls
contractual obligations.
- Manages the detail designs of protective relaying schemes
