**Job description**:
The Group Legal Advisor provides legal and strategic support to the Head of Group Legal and the broader business. The role is central to managing legal risk across the group and includes the drafting, vetting and negotiation of a wide variety of agreements, providing legal opinions, managing litigation, and supporting HR matters. The role also involves interaction with senior management, external legal counsel, and various internal committees.

**Responsibilities**:

- Drafting and vetting of contracts
- Providing legal and contractual advice across business areas
- Labour law and HR support, including disciplinary matters
- Managing litigation, including liaison with external attorneys and counsel
- Reviewing and advising on internal policies and procedures
- Representing Legal at Compliance, Risk and Legal Committee meetings
- Supporting internal initiatives with legal input and risk mitigation

**Minimum requirements**:

- LLB degree
- Admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa
- Minimum 5 years post-articles legal experience, with at least 3 years in a commercial legal environment
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and provide commercially practical legal advice
- Previous in-house legal counsel experience within financial services
- Exposure to FAIS, FICA, POPIA and other regulatory frameworks applicable to financial services
- Experience with labour law matters
- Familiarity with litigation processes and briefing of counsel
- Knowledge of corporate finance or M&A
- Afrikaans language proficiency (advantageous but not essential)
