Afrikaans (FAL) Teacher

The Thembalitsha Foundation, (registered non-profit organization in South Africa) seeks for an Afrikaans

(FAL) Teacher Grade 8 - 12 for one of their projects, School of Hope which is a registered independent school at the Western Cape Education Department and offers at-risk, vulnerable children and youth a second chance at education.

Based: Observatory, Western Cape

Reporting to: Project Manager/Principal

Hours: 8h00 to 16h00

**Salary**: Market related

**Job Types**: Full-time, Temp to permanent

Key responsibilities:

- Commitment to the spiritual, emotional and cognitive development of each learner.
- Dedication to good stewardship of the school building and grounds and cultivating this value in the learners of the school.
- Commitment to on-going personal and professional development.
- Assisting with the organization of special events.
- Preparing and executing lessons in a formal and systematic manner for the learners of the School of Hope.
- Attending staff meetings (SOH and Thembalitsha) staff development and staff training as indicated by the principal.
- Planning adequately and professionally for each lesson (lesson plans) and each term

(work schedule) and submitting such planning to the supervisor appointed by the principal timeously.
- Ensuring every learner has a portfolio of evidence which is kept up to date and is available for inspection or moderation at any time this is required.
- Participating in internal moderation at least three times a year.
- Communicating with social services, parents and other agencies for the benefit of the learners.

**Requirements**:

- PGCE or B.Ed required (completed qualification)
- Contactable references
- Registered with SACE
- Police Clearance required
- At least 3 years’ experience teaching Afrikaans
- Ability to commute/relocate: Observatory, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
