Factory Manager Job, Durban, KZN

As Factory Manager your job is to oversee manufacturing operations and supervise operators. The main role of the Factory Manager is to improve manufacturing productivity and to reduce lead times of the product delivery to clients. The job role of Factory Manager involves full operational control over what happens at the factory including engineering, output, personnel, and will include areas such as quality control and safety. The Factory Manager is responsible for implementing budgets, quality control, and dispatching finished goods to plan. The Factory Manager plans production meetings, production activities, worker schedules, machine maintenance schedules and maintains budgets and product quality. An essential part of the job as Factory Manager is to see that the safety standards are being maintained within the factory and that workers are abiding by workplace safety rules. The Factory Manager makes sure the product is meeting the level of quality demanded by the customer.

Responsibilities:

- Receive the order plan and order sheet from the senior authorities.
- Prepare têxtile and apparel production plans weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
- Receive material status against each order and monitor the progress of material received.
- Receive an approved sample, swatch card against the order sheet.
- Ensure that apparel production lines are properly balanced for target output.
- Coordinates with the quality manager so that defective or faulty goods are not produced.
- Provide job assignments to supervisors and other subordinates.
- Ensure that the floor, machinery, toilet, dining spaces is neat and clean.
- Ensure that all workstations are properly illuminated.
- Arrange for continuous training of helpers and operators.
- Have a pre-production sample prepared and compared with the originally approved sample.
- Ensure to pursue the right works, quality, and maintenance standards.
- Ensure that materials are organized at each stage of processing.
- Ensure that a congenial atmosphere exists on the floor.
- Make the right evaluation of the performance of his subordinates.
- Arrange for proper documentation of all the activities on the floor.
- Make arrangements for the right machine layout.
- Inspire employees for better works, better motivation.
- Ensure that all the machinery is equipped with protective devices.
- Organize pre-production meetings or pre-production activities to discuss related issues.
- Approve the commencement of production against a work order.
- Monitor the progress of production against the production plan.
- Take countermeasures if the progress of têxtile or apparel production is not satisfactory.
- Coordinate with all the concerns so that clothing production progresses as per plan.
- Responsible for ensuring discipline on the floor.
- Take care of the worker’s safety and welfare. Make the best efforts to create a congenial work environment which is called a “win-win situation”.
