**Job Purpose**:
To establish, direct and control infrastructure asset management as a dedicated practice with
strong sector leadership, drive and regulation, municipal commitment and ownership, financial
support and incentives, proper planning, appropriate institutional arrangements, skills development
and well as suitable support systems and tools for water and sanitation assets in the Municipality.

**Key Responsibility Areas**:
Provide input into strategic and functional objectives of the functions intents and deliverables.
Plan and prepare capital and operating estimates for the Unit and approves and controls
operational and project related expenditure against approved budget allocations.

Conceptualises and directs research to drive strategy formulation and development of a Unit
Wide Infrastructure Asset Management Plan for key areas.
Manages the implementation of the Infrastructure Asset Management policy for the Unit in
conjunction with the infrastructure asset management team.
Applies professional engineering principles and approaches to determine the effectiveness of
the Asset Management Plans from a life cycle perspective.
Disseminates strategic, functional and operational information on the immediate, short and
long term objectives and current developments, problems and constraints.
Manages the administrative information consolidation and reporting requirements associated
with the key performance and result indicators of the functionality.

**Essential Requirements**:
B.Sc (Engineering) plus registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a
Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng).
Valid motor vehicle driving license (Code B or EB).
6 Years post registration experience.
Computer Literacy.

**Preferred Requirements**:
Relevant post graduate qualification.
8 Years relevant experience.
