Snr Specialist: Corporate Compliance

**Core Description**:
Responsible to assist the board, management, and appropriate staff members in discharging their responsibility to comply with applicable compliance obligations through the provision of compliance risk management services, based on the development of an efficient risk-based compliance methodology and plan, aligned with the enterprise-wide risk management framework.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop a compliance strategy that enables the compliance function to plan for future events, including the process of how to achieve the identified goals in line with the enterprise risk management strategy
- Establish and maintain effective compliance governance structures, practices and methodologies
- Draft and maintain compliance-related policies, frameworks and guidelines and obtain governance approval
- Identify relevant internal and external stakeholders and understand and consider their needs and interests
- Advise on and assist the management and the relevant governance committees to understand the status of compliance in the organisation through providing accurate and timely information and reporting
- Identify all compliance obligations, develop and maintain a group regulatory universe and provide regular advice and guidance to business units and subsidiaries on legislative changes on the horizon
- Develop and execute a compliance programme including planned coverage and monitoring activities
- Assist management in identifying control measures that will ensure compliance with the compliance obligations as well as advise on the implementation of these control measures
- Report routinely on the status of compliance risk management being achieved to line management, the governing body, and any relevant assurance committees and forums
- Report on issues of non-compliance, and track and report on whether management is resolving issues of non-compliance efficiently and effectively
- Establish, communicate and promote an appropriate compliance culture that contributes to the overall objective of prudent risk management in the organisation
- Undertake compliance monitoring to evaluate whether business is conducted in compliance with compliance obligations
- Contribute to the combined assurance plan and approach as a second line of defence role
- Develop material and promote appropriate training interventions and awareness campaigns
- Perform accurate and timely compliance record keeping in alignment with company policies
- Provide guidance, monitoring and oversight support to the compliance functions in the business units and subsidiaries
- Present compliance reports at governance forums as required
- Draft comments and opinions on legislative changes and industry documents and request received from regulators

**Required Certification**:
**Qualifications**:
LLB (NQF level 8)

**Experience**:
7 years relevant legal/ commercial experience. Proven compliance management or competition law experience will be an advantage.

**Special Requirements**:
Admission as Practicing Attorney or Advocate
