Occupational Health Practitioner

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement the health programmes as per the plan.
- Implement and maintain an Injury Management Plan and reporting to relevant authorities (i.e. DMRE, MHSC, Mineral Council
of SA, RMA, Compensation Com).
- Maintain a comprehensive Occupational Health, Primary Health and Wellness (Peer Educators) programme, biological
monitoring register, occupational illness/disease register, chronic disease register.
- Arrange for Employee Assistance Programme counselling.
- Provide input into the departmental budget.
- Manage the budget for the area of responsibility.

- Ensure capacity and bench strength of talent pool in area of responsibility by coordinating, directing and leading subordinates.
- Ensure that all Occupational Health reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines and schedules.
- Analyse Occupational Health (medical surveillance) and Primary Health (Chronic Disease/Illness) trends, compile report, in
consultation with the OMP to provide feedback and recommendations to the Manager: Health, Safety, Environment & Quality
and Group Health & Hygiene function.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system within the operation, Group
Health & Hygiene function and local clinics.
- Takes cognisance of and adhere to Company policies, procedures and relevant legislation. Manage and report on non
compliance issues.
- Model behaviour that is consistent with the Company Safety, Health and Environment Vision and Values. Manage and report
on non compliance issues.
- Supervise subordinates in the designated area.
- Effective Team Player and Effective Self Management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Diploma (NQF 6) in General Nursing Science/Degree in Occupational Health Nursing.
- Minimum 5 years occupational health experience.
- Valid Registration with SANC.
- Valid Registration with SASOHN.
- Computer Literacy and Microsoft Office Suite.
ADVANTAGE:
- Diploma (NQF 6): Nursing Science: General, Psychiatry, Community And Midwifery.
- Course in Health Assessment and Physical Examination Skills or equivalent
- Valid Dispensing License
- Supervisory Development Programme (SDP) or equivalent.
OTHER SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:
- Analyse, interpret and report on health related information and make recommendations to management where required.
- Identify occupational health hazards and risks in different processes.
- Implement and develop a health risk plan.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill in conducting physical assessments.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Occupational Health legislation and company policies and procedures.
