**OUR SCHOOL**:**ROLE SUMMARY**:

- School nursing is a specialised area of professional nursing dedicated to supporting the health, well-being and academic success of students. The school nurse plays a vital role in promoting healthy development, ensuring safety and addressing both existing and potential health concerns. Responsibilities include providing case management, delivering health education and collaborating with students, families, educators and other professionals to enhance the capacity for adaptation, self-management, self-advocacy and lifelong learning.**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Provide First Aid to staff and learners.
- Dispense medication to children as required in line with school policy and medical protocols.
- Implementation of health and safety protocols.
- Transporting and accompanying sick /injured children to medical facilities.
- Maintain up-to-date medical records and ensure confidentiality.
- Submission of medical insurance claims and organizing payments to doctors and hospitals.
- Provide counselling to learners and staff regarding medical issues.
- Management and ordering of stock including invoicing.
- Work hand in hand with boarding staff.
- Be responsible for night -shift and on call during weekends when pupils are on campus if required.
- The post holder is required to undertake any other reasonable tasks that the School Head/line manager determine
- Liaise with parents, guardians, teachers and external healthcare providers.
- Assists with the daily operation within boarding.

**WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR**:

- Registered Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) (proof required).
- Previous experience as a school nursing sister in a boarding environment will be a distinct advantage.
- Relevant nursing qualification: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Valid First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (essential).
- Pediatric, Trauma or School Nursing training will be advantageous.
- Minimum 3-5 years of nursing experience
- Familiarity with adolescent health issues, emotional well-being and mental health support.
- Excellent communication and administration skills
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Be organized, have attention to detail, hard-working and flexible
- Computer literate
- Driver’s license and own vehicle
- Must be in possession of a dispensing license, or be in the process of getting one.
- Availability to work on weekends and be on call when required.
