Our client is an international non-profit organisation who facilitates stem cell donations to those in need. The Team Lead for Medical is responsible for supporting the Head of Medical on all medical activities performed by the donor centre and the registry. The Team lead will also be responsible for implementing the Medical Team’s annual operating plans.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Management**:

- Supervises the medical department according to goals in alignment with the Head of Medical while ensuring the departments day-to-day functionality
- Support the Head of Medical in the implementation of the Medical team’s operational plans and support the Head of Medical to grow the service and build relationships with stakeholders in the medical industry to meet operational demand and achieve local and global KPIs.
- Meets with the Head of Medical for the purpose of regular supervision and appraisal
- Responsible for motivating, managing and developing staff to enable high levels of performance and a productive and collaborative work culture
- Responsible for the implementation and goal achievement of projects in the department and communicates to staff on a regular basis
- Prioritizes and delegates tasks in the department and determines allocation of duties
- Complies with the organization’s health and safety, confidentiality, data protection, charity laws and other policies

**Medical**:

- Ensure that medical activities are performed regarding confirmatory typing, work-up, shipping and follow-up.
- Oversee the quality assurance and management of donor and patient data. Ensuring data is accurate and up to date and best practice standards adhered to.
- Produce analysis reports on performance against overall budget and KPIs, producing recommendations for corrective action as appropriate.
- Work closely with counterparts in other countries and supply regular updates on activities in South Africa, share best practice and work together on international projects or initiatives.
- Ensure all applicable rules and regulations are complied with and ensure best practice, particularly as these relate to the Health Act, Drugs and Cosmetics Act, Data Protection and Confidentiality.
- Report adverse events and recommend corrective actions as appropriate.

**EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND KNOWLEDGE**:

- Qualified to relevant degree level (BSc or similar) with at least 5 years’ experience in a comparable role (preferably in healthcare management or a related area).
- Minimum of three years’ work experience in supervision/ management.
- Practical experience, knowledge, and capability in the areas of haematopoietic stem cell transplantation
- Experience in the NGO and medical aid fields would be advantageous
- Demonstrated “hands-on” experience and the effective use of related technology tools: Proficiency in Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel, and internet searches.
- Willing to travel internationally
- Own car and driver's license
