Junior Technician

An established company operating in the agricultural sector is looking for an Junior Electrical / Mechanical Technician. Offices will be based in Wellington, South Africa.

The company requires a hard-working young individual with drive and ability to take charge. The position entails travelling local and abroad to install and maintain equipment used in the agricultural sector.

**PREREQUISITES**
- Must reside in the Western Cape
- Preferred to live in close proximity of Wellington / Paarl
- Must have valid driver’s license
- Own reliable transport
- Must be able to work extended hours in peak seasons
- Willing to travel for within South Africa and abroad

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Installing, maintaining and repairing of electrical and mechanical equipment
- Reporting on technical issues and general feedback to management
- Performing factory acceptance testing of new equipment
- Actively involved in research and development projects
- Implementing world class manufacturing principals

**PERSONALITY**:

- Ability to work under pressure and make decisions
- Must be able to associate and communicate with the farming community
- Excellent communication skills (constant communication with customers and management)
- Pro-active and willing to go the extra mile
- Able to delegate and manage staff on site
- Ability to work alone and as a team leader

**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**:

- Red seal electrical, millwright or relevant experience
- Good report writing capabilities
- Forklift and plant equipment license (beneficial)
- Knowledge of the agricultural industry (beneficial)
- Must be fluent in Afrikaans and English (written and oral)

**EXPERIENCE**:
**-**Sound electrical knowledge ito fault finding, 3 phase circuits and VFD’s
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams
- PLC experience advantages
- At least 5 years’ experience in a mechanical/electrical repairs and installations environment
- Moderate mechanical skills required
