Security Systems Technicians

The main purpose of this position is to conduct corrective, preventative and emergency maintenance, minor installation and quality assurance on work done by service partners on all the physical electronic security systems within the South African Reserve Bank Group (SARB Group) to ensure the health, integrity, availability and reliability thereof. Detailed Description Perform daily corrective maintenance on physical security systems such as intrusion detection systems (IDSs) (including electric fences), closed-circuit television (CCTV), the seismic detection system, the radio communication system and the electronic access control system. - Determine, on a daily basis, the health status of all the electronic security systems across the SARB Group facilities, including the cash centres, subsidiaries and official residences. - Monitor the security systems on a daily basis, as per the maintenance checklist, and report any faults via the Cyber Incident and Investigation Management System ( CiiMS ) to ensure that all the security systems are technically and operationally functional on a 24-hour basis. - Provide input into the planning of quarterly and annual maintenance visits to ensure the functionality and serviceability of all security systems. - Conduct quarterly and annual preventative maintenance in order to identify, assess and mitigate any and all risks associated with electronic security systems across the SARB Group, as per the scheduled maintenance plan. - Update the CiiMS database with any and all electronic security anomalies, system failures and maintenance deficits. - Proactively monitor and address CiiMS faulty entries, allocate them to your site, and name and manage them until their resolution. - Provide a consolidated report per SARB Group facility after planned maintenance visits to report on maintenance completed and maintenance planned for the next visit. - Collate, analyse and escalate technical serviceability information to the Team Leader: Security Systems for reporting, planning and decision-making purposes. - Quality-assure the functionality of security systems for all projects at the South African Reserve Bank’s (SARB) Business Solutions and Technology Department (BSTD) as well as the Corporate Services Department (CSD). - Facilitate and administer the procurement process for all the required equipment, services and vendor support for approval by the Team Leader: Security Systems. - Manage the relationships with all stakeholders, vendors, role players and service providers to ensure the functionality and serviceability of all security systems. - Perform standby duties and after-hours maintenance work (where applicable). - Proactively broaden knowledge of own functional area, displaying willingness to make improvements in the section (including methods and practices). Job Requirements a National Diploma in Electronics (NQF 6) or an equivalent qualification; and - a minimum of 3-6 years of working experience in an electronic security and/or information technology (IT) systems environment, with specific emphasis on the installation, maintenance and repairs of physical security systems.
