**I AM WE ARE**

I Am, We Are (IAWA) is a global youth empowerment organization dedicated to helping young people overcome challenges such as high unemployment and educational inequities that hinder their path to becoming self-sufficient adults. Founded in 2015, IAWA delivers tailored programs in South Africa and the United States that equip high school-aged youth with the mindset, skills, and resources to confidently own their futures. Our programs have had a transformative impact, inspiring participants to pursue higher education, develop essential life skills, and engage as global citizens, thereby breaking cycles of poverty and opening pathways to sustainable success. IAWA is committed to creating a world where all youth are globally aware, socially responsible, and economically free.

**What You Will Do**

In celebration of IAWA’s 10-year anniversary in October 2025, we are conducting research to assess the long-term impact our programming has had on participants. We also seek to understand our alumni’s interest and needs for additional support and programming. We need your support the last week of May and the first week of June with this project.

The impact study includes quantitative and qualitative data:

- An anonymous survey directed at all program alumni, program dropouts and a control group.
- Focus groups and/or individual interviews with alumni and a control group deepening select survey questions.
- Individual interviews with parents and possibly community members about the program’s impact on participants and the community.

All interviews with alumni as well as parents or community members will be conducted in Setswana or in English, depending on interviewees’ preferences.

The survey and the focus groups will be **conducted on one day with an in-person gathering** of survey respondents and interviewees, on 31 May 2025. This includes travel to Rustenburg on 30 May 2025 and overnight stay and participation in the day-long event on 31 May 2025.

As the Research Volunteer, you will support the process of administering the survey and facilitating the focus groups. This includes, but is not limited to:

- Attending on-boarding, regular check-in and training sessions, mostly to be held virtually.
- Administering the anonymous survey (paper version) to alumni and control group participants during the in-person gathering.
