The Group Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team manages group-wide integrated planning and management reporting processes to support financial decision-making at a Group Exco and at a Board level for the Absa Group.

The Head of Reporting & Cost Management will act as a deputy to the Head of FP&A and take management responsibility for the Reporting and Cost Management teams within Group FP&A. The purpose of the role is to proactively take the lead in the co-ordination and review of the teams’ regular deliverables and to manage the underlying Reporting and Cost Management teams. This is a key role providing support to the Group Exco and the broader Finance function as well as providing advice and commercial insight from a financial reporting perspective. Reporting deliverables are generated in a tight control environment within the Group’s management reporting sphere. This position will proactively drive efficiencies within the Department and actively participate in projects to develop the Finance function as a whole and provide support to the Head of Group Financial Decision Support.

**Job Description**:
Key accountabilities:

- Lead the Reporting and Cost Management team in the preparation, consolidation and review of their regular deliverables.
- Coordinate with the various teams across the Group and Business Unit Finance functions in the performance of complex analysis and the preparation of appropriate senior management and Board-level reporting as well as providing support for external adhoc requests.
- Support the Head of Group FP&A in developing and maintaining a reporting and cost management framework along with key metrics against which performance can be assessed.
- Review accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness of reporting in support of financial decision-making by covering performance trends, providing meaningful insights and independent commentary on key emerging themes.
- Make recommendations and enhancements where required to existing reporting content/analysis so as to better inform financial decision making.
- Support the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis in the co-ordination and control of systems and processes supporting management reporting.
- Recommend corrective actions as may be appropriate to key stakeholders where cost trends are not aligned to the Group’s cost plans/strategic objectives.
- Accountability for cost management reporting as a centre of excellence providing governance and oversight for the Group strategic cost programmes and/or initiatives.
- Collaborate with Group Reward in the financial aspects of incentivisation models.
- Mentor and performance manage team members (5 direct reports) and collaborate with peers in a positive manner that embraces a teamwork ethos.

Role / Person Specification

Education and Experience:

- Post Graduate Degree (NQF level no.8+)
- CA (SA) or CIMA
- 10+ years professional financial management experience
- 5+ years Banking Experience, engaging at an Executive Level
- 5+ years managing a team
- Experience of accounting and related internal control processes
- Experience in Financial Management, Strategic Planning, governance processes and reporting
