Driver Trainer

Brief description

The position of driver trainer consists of PRACTICAL training from code 8 to code 14 super link trucks. Super Link trucks will be 80% of the output. Correctness of registers, and submitting feedback to ILS admin is of high importance.

Duties & Responsibilities

Qualifications and requirements
- Grade 12 Preference
- Minimum of 5 Year experience on code 14 Super link relevant truck
- Experience on a Fuller gear box and or Spilt box
- Tri axle experience advantages
- No Criminal record
- Use of Google maps is advantageous
- Contactable references with land line numbers on CV
- Valid license driver’s license and PDP

Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure the area of testing is always safe for all people involved. Cones to be correctly placed.
- Utilise PPE equipment provided when working and ensure the vehicle/truck is always left clean and all safety actions taken before and after testing.
- Communicate clear instructions to the students before and during training
- Very specific training involves the following:

- Pre-trip Inspection
- Straight reverse
- Alley docking
- 8 formation
- Steering techniques
- Driving in wet conditions
- Coupling De-Coupling
- Economical Driving
- HG Vehicle brakes
- Correct tyre pressure and maintenance
- Strapping
- PPE equipment
- Caring for passengers
- Travel on road (road signs, diesel consumption reduction and defensive driving specific)
- Practice safe driving habits
- Maintain vehicle equipment; replace oil, fill gas tank, perform general truck maintenance as needed for safety
- Clean windows, windshields, and mirrors as needed
- Communicate results to ILS admin after testing
- Time management is of high importance as direct cost is effected by utilizing trucks.
