Sheq Superintendent

PURPOSE

This position exists to ensure the achievement of business objectives through contract execution and growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Risk
- Establish risk assessment team
- Conduct risk assessments
- Document all risks identified and maintain register
- Train staff on risks involved and procedures to be followed during executing

tasks

Audits and inspections
- Plan for and execute internal audits
- Do inspections on physical conditions of plant
- Perform PPE inspections

Training
- Do SHEQ training needs analysis
- Develop training material
- Deliver training programmes
- Assess and evaluate for competency
- Update training information on files and matrix
- Do follow-up audits
- Elect, arrange and coordinate external training interventions

Contracting
- Provide SHEQ advisory services to line management
- Advise employees on their rights and obligations
- Maintain register of SHEQ performance information
- Correspondence and record keeping
- Compile reports on SHEQ related information e.g. Incidents/accidents/statistics /PTOs /training etc
- Contractor management

Project Management
- Plan for investigation
- Conduct investigation
- Determine root causes
- Implement corrective actions
- Compile and distribute report to manager

QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12
- National Diploma in Safety Management will be advantageous
- ISO 9001 Implementation
- SAMTRAC
- COMSOC 1 and 2

EXPERIENCE
- At least 3 years experience in a mining & construction safety environment as a

safety Officer or similar
- Knowledge of the OHS act, Mine Health and Safety Act

- Knowledge of safety Statutes
- Risk assessment techniques and methodologies
- Training on art of training adults
- Knowledge on how to conduct a safety audit and inspections
- Report writing skills
- Planning and organising skills
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of ISO systems/SHEQ legislations and
- FAMP standards
- Report writing
- Facilitation skills
