Our Client is dedicated to ensuring people’s safety and providing quality customer service. This role is the perfect opportunity for an experienced Data Science Manager to lead a team tasked with driving strategic intent and operational effectiveness. You will manage a small team and be responsible for delivering Data Science related objectives in collaboration with their relevant business units.

Responsibilities include:

- Advanced and Predictive Analytics: Utilize machine learning techniques and build predictive, descriptive and behavioral models to achieve various business performance indicators, identify business opportunities and link insights to actionable recommendations.
- Manage the optimization cycle and quantify the impact of models on the business, its customers and other stakeholders.
- Data and Analytics Strategy: Plan all business and technical aspects of different data and analytics systems and platforms, and understand their features and properties.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Develop stakeholder engagement through identifying stakeholders, and manage relationships and collaboration across the business.
- Insights and Reporting: Lead execution and interpretation of complex reports, identifying and interpreting complex patterns and trends. Calculate the ROI of projects and models and present to key stakeholders.
- Data Exploration: Perform complex statistical analysis and utilize data mining, modelling and testing techniques to enable data analysis.
- Leadership and Direction: Communicate actions to implement the functions strategy, and motivate people to commit to these and to do extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
- Performance Management: Set objectives for direct reports or project/account team members, and manage and report on team performance.
- Data Management: Manage key aspects of the data management system with guidance from senior colleagues.
- Continuous Improvement: Review existing operations in own area of work and other business units, and implement innovation processes.
- Project management: Manage a portfolio of projects and deliver on project outcomes.
- Organizational Capability Building: Use the organization's formal development framework to identify team's individual development needs.
- Matric
- 3 - year degree in Information Technology / Sciences / Informatics / Applied Mathematics / Statistics / Quantitative sciences / Actuarial sciences / Data Mining / Economics
- Master’s Degree in Information Technology / Sciences / Informatics / Applied Mathematics / Statistics / Quantitative sciences / Actuarial sciences / Data Mining / Economics (Advantageous)
- 6 or more years working experience within an analytical, data science or computer science environment
- Experience in the Financial Services Industry, Short-Term Insurance (Advantageous)
- 2 - 4 years management team lead experience of a small team 2-6 people
