**Main Purpose**:We are looking to hire a motivated, enthusiastic and skilled graduate to join our Data Engineering team, based in Johannesburg and reporting directly to our Global Data Engineering Manager.

You will be given the opportunity to expand your skills in a data-rich commodity, power and carbon trading environment where you will design and help develop high quality digital solutions that will enable our commercial teams to query, research, generate insights and innovate on large scale datasets. The position will help you develop practical analytical and engineering skills whilst solving complex business problems for our commercial and research teams across the business.

Commodity trading provides Data Scientists, Quantitative Researchers and Data Engineers with an optimum environment to develop and use their existing technical skills to solve practical problems and help improve efficiencies across global supply chains.

This position will be part of the Global Graduate Programme and your learning will be complemented with additional training, support and exposure to other facets of our business through the programme’s rotation structure.
**Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities**:
You must:

- Hold a related STEM undergraduate and/or postgraduate university degree; such as Computer Science / Information Systems / Software Engineering / Electrical and Computer Engineering (or similar)
- Be proficient in at least one programming language
- Be able demonstrate an aptitude for software design and development.
- Have no more than 2 years of work experience post graduation
- Have a dynamic and upbeat personality
- Be proactive, driven and take initiative
- Be comfortable with problem solving and analytical thinking
- Be fluent in English with outstanding communication

You should have the focus and ambition to become a deep expert in both technical and commercial areas of activity and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment that is continuously evolving along with the global economy, the geopolitical landscape, and technological change driven by the energy transition.
