Dog Kennel Assistant

**Essential skills and qualifications**
- Other qualifications in the field of dog care (kennelling or dog day care) will be beneficial
- Have a genuine love for dogs; they are the centre of our business
- Communication proficiency in English, both written and verbal
- Work experience at a doggy day care and/or kennel are essential.
- Be willing to work long hours in the outside.
- Hours Monday to Friday from 08h00 - 17h00 (45 hours per week)

**Key tasks**

**1)** **General duties (50 %)**

a) Inspections

i) Perimeter and all fences of the off the park to check for any holes in or under the fences, report to manager. (Execute temporary repairs without delay)

ii) Inspect Entire Park and kennels to identify possible dangers. Report to the manager

b) General

i) Frequently pick up all dog excrement (poop).

ii) Ensure that water bowls are full all the time. Replace water more frequently when it is very hot outside. Sanitise bowls at the end of the day so they are clean for the next morning.

iii) Clean and fill the play shells throughout the day. Dogs will drink water from the shells as well

iv) Make sure the park is tidy, pick up rubbish, empty dustbins.

v) Clean the entrance and parking area.

vi) Clean the office and toilet and cement benches

**2)** **Stimulation of all dogs (35 %)**

a) Implement daily activity roster to optimally stimulate dogs, both physically and mentally, improve social skills and provide rest periods.

b) Vigilant monitoring of dog behaviour and implement corrective measures to prevent incidents per example; fighting, aggressiveness, exhaustion, dehydration etc.

3) **Client care (15 %)**

a) Assist and welcome Clients when dropping off and/or collecting dogs.

b) Communicate any injuries and/or incidents with Clients and Team Leader / Park Manager as soon as it happens.

c) Promptly execute all instructions from Park Manager and/or Pack Leader

**Salary**: R30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 45 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Centurion, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Dog care: 2 years (required)
