Faircape Health Rehabilitation Centre, Tokai Estate provides restorative care and rehabilitation for those recovering from injury or surgery. Our world-class care aims to bridge the gap between hospital and home.
Our Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) of leading healthcare professionals administers care in the most therapeutic environment possible and supports healing outcomes in all aspects. The 70 bed step down facility is located within 500m of the M3 motorway close to the Blue Route Mall.
We are seeking an experienced and energetic person to fulfil the role of **Medical Liaison Assistant** to join our team for a **4-month temporary contract **at Tokai Estate.
The Medical Liaison Assistant will assist to liaise with medical schemes to obtain authorisation, maintain day-to-day financial, administrative and personnel services in order to meet the facility’s operational requirements.
**Specific duties include, but are not limited to**:
- Track the Patient Referral on the Tokai Daily Google Sheet and bed list
- Update patient details on internal system
- Corresponding with medical aids
- Understand the medical aid schemes and what is covered through each scheme with regards to medication and benefits e.g. if the authorisation includes ambulance transfers, external service providers etc.
- Relationship management with key case managers at hospitals and medical aid schemes
- Ensure that daily reports are completed daily for patients regarding any changes
- Ensure that admission / discharge documentation is completed accurately
- Notify Health Care Administrator if any documentation is not correct prior to admission of patients
- Liaise with family/patient to answer all questions prior to admission
- Ensure that payment plan for both medication and medical consumables are in place 1 day prior to admission
- Obtain patient payment details for medication and medical consumables prior to admission
- Obtain proof of deposit prior to admission
- Confirm the number of available beds with the Health Care Administrator and allocate the patient, with the approval of the Shift Leader and Nursing Services Manager
- Printing of documentation for the patient hospital file
- Complete the contract with a family member or the patient.
- Ensure that the admission and Refund administration is completed once the patient has been discharged
- Advise Health Care Administrator on discharges on a daily basis
- Assist to relieve Receptionist daily during lunch / tea breaks and when they are on annual or sick leave
- All filing/archiving to be done daily

**Qualifications**:
- Grade 12
**Experience**:
- Proven experience in an administrative role
- Experience in hospital administration / medical environment advantageous
**Skills and Attributes**:
- Strong administrative skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Professional telephone etiquette
- Ability to work in a fast paced working environment
**Specific Requirements**:
- Own reliable transport and valid driver's licence
- Clear health record
- Clear criminal record
- Clear credit record
- Contactable references
- Vaccinated against covid-19 or prepared to be vaccinated prior to commencing job
Normal working hours are Mondays to Fridays from 08h00 until 17h00 with a 45-minute lunch break. The company allows employees, by approval of the direct manager, to work flexi-time between 07h00 and 18h00
Salary on offer is R 20 000 Cost To Company per month. The amount offered will be dependent on qualifications, experience and other market related factors.
