Earthmoving Mechanic

This is a full-time permanent position, working Monday to Friday with overtime opportunities.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Maintain, repair, service and report on all site capital equipment both in the yard and on sites as per CEO's instructions and requirements.
- Render technical assistance on all equipment.
- All maintenance, service and repairs must be completed to an agreed specification.
- Complete daily and weekly reports audits for all machines in yard and on sites.
- Update CEO daily on all completed breakdowns and requirements to complete the breakdown, repair or maintenance on site and to inform the CEO before leaving the site.
- Immediately report any abuse / negligence by the operators on any of the equipment listing the relevant details to the CEO.
- Always carry the correct / relevant equipment / tools to carry out the required work, service and repairs.
- Report to the CEO before leaving the site by means of a neat, complete and detailed service report. The report is also evidence of work done on site and hours worked. The report must be signed off and always kept current and up to date.
- Work according to customer's health and safety standards and procedures.
- Carry out audits and over inspections (daily, weekly, monthly) and provide reports on the same to both mine management and CEO as may be required.
- Assist with on-the-job artisan training and coaching.
- Assist with problem solving/ trouble shooting when necessary.
- Assist on correct scheduled and breakdown maintenance practices and procedures.
- Advise on correct spares and timely placement of orders for maintenance spares.
- Assist with correct spares stock levels of correct spares.
- Identify, evaluate and discuss areas of improvement on machines and communicate with the CEO for approval and implementation.
- Liaise with the company for expediting spares orders and any other requirements.
- Proficient in the diagnosis and repair of all types of electrical systems. You will diagnose, service and repair a wide range of CAT Earthmoving equipment including air-conditioning systems.
- Completion of onsite trouble-shooting, diagnostics, repairs and maintenance of electrical and mechanical CAT equipment
- Fitting of electrical safety equipment
- Air conditioning repairs and maintenance
- Completion of all required paperwork accurately and effectively
- Providing quality customer service at all times

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Trade Certificate in Automotive Electrical Fitting / Heavy equipment diesel mechanic or equivalent
- Current drivers licence
- Previous experience diagnosing of CAT machinery (ADT, Graders, Excavators, TLBs)
- Experience in Caterpillar electrical and laptop diagnosis (highly desirable)
- You will be proficient in the diagnosis and repair of all types of electrical systems
